$11, 2 months and 2 hours

I paid $8 for the headboard and footboard at Goodwill.  It took me 2 months to track down the $3 "slide-in" side rails.  2 hours in painting and the deal was done.  I love completing this project because I feel strangely passionate about items like this not ending up in a dump, it really is a beautiful bed, it's true they don't make things 'now' like they did 'then', it cost us $11, Lucy is in the clouds and Henry is jealous. Amen.

Get Ahold of Yourself!

I know.  I'm funny.  I found this bronze hand at Dwell in Tacoma.  You've gotta get in there.

22nd Annual Chinese Christmas and 2 days of Sweet Solitude

We had dinner at The Shanghai House in Tacoma this year for Christmas.  We've gone out to Chinese food for Christmas dinner every year since I was 10 years old.  It's a delicious tradition I don't intend on breaking.  All are welcome in 2011!

The next morning I heard Tookie asking Lucy, "Do you want to go to the beach with Tookie?"  They had us at "go".  John and I spent the two days following Christmas shopping, playing video games, seeing a movie, going out to dinner, finishing the shed, and staring at eachother wondering what to do next.  We really can't survive without our kids for too long, but 2 days was just perfect.  Thanks for loving these guys too much Tookie and Grandpa!

"It's Your Pillow and a Pet, It's a Pillow Pet"

The slogan for this era's Cabbage Patch Doll, the Pillow Pet.  I wonder how many other Moms worldwide are trying to figure out how to wash these things.  We are on the Pillow Pet bandwagon too thanks to Grandma Pati and Grandpa Al.  The kids LOVE them, thanks you!

Are You Fur Real?

Yes, yes I am.  This mechanical kitty, "Lu Lu" which I bought as a gag, turned out to be our Lu Lu's Christmas highlight.
